Gibb Mansion Summary

Pros

Centrally located, convenient to public transit
It has all the amenities (Coffee! Smoking balcony!)
It's turn-key ready to host hybrid meetings with an Internet-connected video monitor

Cons

Masks are required upon entry and exit, but not in the meeting room
There have been complaints about noise from the ice machine in the past. We have permission to build a noise-reducing enclosure
The cafeteria is L-shaped. People ‘around the corner’ have sometimes had difficulty hearing and being heard.

I had a talk with the new director this morning. She was happy to hear from us and eager to bring meetings back to Gibb!

They do have some concerns; currently visitors are required to wear masks and show proof of vaccination. However, those are visitors to see the residents. We OTOH would be there to use the space. In the past we typically have little interaction with the tenants, although some have attended the meeting.

The feeling I got from our conversation is that there was some wiggle room. That said she has people she has to answer to just as we do. She was fine with meeting times. I forgot to ask about Grace & Dignity. The coffee situation is still TBD.

They have some experience with hybrid. They have both Internet access and a monitor in the room (cafeteria).

We talked about move in dates and the first week of February start sounded reasonable. Looking at the calendar just now however, I would go with Monday February 6. That would gie us time to have an informed group conscience and get our ducks in a row.

Met with Ms. Wright, the new site coordinator this morning. She was very excited to have meetings back at Gibb; we had a very productive meeting. I briefed her on our process; and she did likewise.

The Cafeteria is already set up to host Zoom meetings -- going hybrid should be fairly straightforward, should we choose to go that route.

When we left Gibb in the Spring of 2020, we had been discussing a new shelving unit with Sharon Haberer to address the situation in the storage closet. AFAIK. two of the groups that used to meet at Gibb have decamped. Our books and hospitality supplies have since been removed, one group's bins remain.

I am in touch with members of that group and will find out if they are or plan to return. If so, we will need to revisit the shelving discussion.

Masks are very much a thing at Gibb, although as per our earlier discussion, we may have some wiggle room there. The good news is that we will have use of the coffee-makers!

As it stands, Ms. Wright will meet with her superiors tomorrow, and will provide more details on things like Internet bandwidth. I explained that we will have our next business meeting on Groundhog's Day (February 2). If Gibb gets the nod, a March 2023 move-in date is possible.
